Painted in 1632, when Rembrandt was 26, "The Anatomy Lesson depicts a public show of dissection, in which the reputed professon Nicolaes Tulp is explaining the musculature of the arm, using the corpse of an executed criminal. It is a large Oil painting on a canvas measuringg 216,5 x 169.5 cm, currently exposed at the Mauritshuis, in the Hague.
