The portrait of an honorable goldsmith from Bruges, painted partially with care and partially as if hurriedly by Jan Van Eyck in 1436. Initially confiscated by the French from the Imperial Gallery in Vienna in 1809, then returned in 1815, after Napoleon's defeat.
