Commissioned by King Carlos III of Spain, the frescoes in the Royal Palace of Spain, was planned after a modello now present in the National Gallery of Art at Washington. Apotheosis of Spain (signed and dated 1764) was painted on the ceiling of the throne room.

Very dramatic painting. Great bottom-up perspective. Makes you feel like you are really there, staring upward... which you are anyways, because it is on a ceiling :) but it's also the great technique the painter is using!
