Aeneas Conducted to Immortality by Venus by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, 1764-1766
On the ceiling of the Guard Room, Tiepolo painted Aeneas Conducted to the Temple of Venus. It was believed that the Aeneas in the Guard Room was painted first, before the Apotheosis of Spain, but this was wrong. Aeneas was completed in the year 1966, the year when the whole frescoe cycle was finished.
