College of Fine Arts
The Boston University College of Fine Arts is a vibrant community of artists that brings together the School of Music, the School of Theatre, and the School of Visual Arts. Established in 1954, CFA offers professional training in the arts in conservatory-style environments for undergraduate and graduate students, complemented by a liberal arts curriculum for undergraduate students.
Art Education (undergraduate)
In the Art Education program, students concentrate on understanding the processes involved in art making and learning. The faculty encourage students to teach children and adolescents to think visually, rather than to simply create products without personal meaning. Students are further prepared to demonstrate the vital relationships between art and culture, art and emotion, and art and history. more
Graphic Design (undergraduate)
Graphic design is the art of giving meaningful form to information. In an era when information comes from every imaginable source, the graphic designer's role in modern communication cannot be overvalued. Graphic design influences everything from hand-painted signs to corporate images. Graphic designers have abundant career options both in the arts and in business. more
Painting (undergraduate)
Drawing and painting are fundamental facets of a visual arts education and make up a major portion of the foundation program. Students will first study perspective and spatial relationships through geometric forms, including the cube, the cone, the sphere, and the cylinder, and will work with more complex variations of these forms as they relate to the human figure more
