Sebastiano Del Piombo (1485-1547)

Sebastiano Luciani, also known as Sebastiano del Piombo, was an Italian painter of the Late Renaissance Venetian school, who was born in Venice in 1485, and died in Rome in 1547. He was esteemed as a very skilled portraitist, featuring a painting style similar to that of Giorgione.

Having collaborated with Michelangelo, Raphael and Baldassarre Peruzzi, Sebastiano del Piombo worked on many frescoes and church panels, among which we mention: "The Raising of Lazarus" (1519, National Gallery, London), "The Martyrdom of St Agatha" (1520, Palazzo Pitti, Florence), and the "San Giovanni Crisostomo Altarpiece" (1511, San Giovanni Crisostomo, Venice).
