Pietro Di Giovanni DAmbrogio (1410-1449)

Pietro di Giovanni d'Ambrogio was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance age, born at Siena c. 1410, and deceased in the same city in 1449. He was one of the promoters of the early Florentine style, proving himself to be a talented innovator who experimented with perspective and departed from the Byzantine style while researching new compositions and colours.

A few remarkable works of Pietro di Giovanni d'Ambrogio are: "Birth of St. Nicholas" (1435-1440, Kunstmuseum, Basel), "Entry of Christ to Jerusalem" (1440 Pinacoteca Stuard, Parma), and "Saint Augustin" (1440, Lindenau-Museum, Altenburg).
