Paris Bordone (1500-1571)

Paris Bordone was an Italian painter born at Trevise in 1500 and deceased at Venice, in 1571. According to Vasari, he was one of Titian's students. He authored religious and mythological paintings characterized by bold, dynamic compositions and rich, vivid colours.

Among Bordone's best known works, the grandiose "The Presentation of the Ring" (Gallerie dell Accademia, Venice), "Venus and Mars with Cupid" (Doria Pamphilj Gallery, Rome), and "Allegory with Lovers" (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna).
