Ghirlandaio (1449-1498)

Domenico Cuorrado Ghirlandaio was a florentine painter of the Early Renaissance, who was born and died in Florence (1449-1498); author of the frescoes in the Church of Ognissanti (including a "Last Supper" scene), and the Tuornabuoni Chapel in Florence ("Life of Mary"). Ghirlandaio was renowned for his grandiose compositions, for the skillful use of the chiaroscuro and his advanced sense of perspective.

His son was Ridolfo Ghirlandaio, a remarkable painter of the Late Renaissance. Domenico Ghirlandaio had David, his brother, as his main collaborator in their Florence workshop.
