Francesco Del Cossa (1430-1477)

Francesco del Cossa was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance form Ferrara, born there around 1430 and deceased c. 1477. A member of the Ferrarese school of art, Francesco del Cossa has painted frescoes in collaboration with Cosimo Tura, for commissioned projects at Palazzo Schiafonia (Ferrara).

He also worked in the city of Bologna, where he worke for private patrons, as well as for the Basilica of San Giovanni in Monte around 1472. Among his best known works we mention the Griffoni polyptychs "St. Vincent Ferrer" (1473, The National Gallery, London), "St. Peter" (1473, Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan), "Madonna with the Child and Saints" (1474, Pinacoteca Nazionale, Bologna).
