Fra Angelico (1395-1455)

Italian painter of the Early Renaissance, by his secular name Guido di Pietro, Fra Angelico is mostly known for his religious paintings of altarpieces and polyptychs. He was a member of the Dominican Order he was much appreciated in his time by the the Pontifical office and received many painting commissions. He was beatified in the 20th century by Pope John Paul II. Among his most important works, there are The Adoration of the Magi, The Transfiguration, The Road to Emmaus.
