Ercole De Roberti (1450-1496)

Ercole de Roberti was an Italian painter of the Ferrarese School during the Early Renaissance age. He worked in Bologna, as a collaborator of Francesco del Cossa, receiving his first commission painting polyptychs in the Griffoni Chapel, for the Bolognese church of San Petronio.

From Ercole de Roberti's limited number of known masterpieces we mention the "Polyptych of Saint Apollonia" (1473 Musee du Louvre, Paris), the "Polyptych of Saint Michael" (1473, Musee du Louvre, Paris), and the spectacular "Madonna with Child and Saints" (1480, Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan).
