Dosso Dossi (1479-1542)

Giovanni Dossi, also known as Dosso Dossi, was Italian painter who was born at Ferrara in 1479 and died there in 1542, and was considered one of the founders of the Ferrara school of art in the High Renaissance.

Painter of religious and mythological works, Dosso Dossi is the author of "Circe and her Lovers in a Landscape", "Jupiter Mercury and the Virtue", "Sts John and Bartholomew with Donors".

Giovanni's brother, Battista, born in 1474 and deceased in 1546, a great landscape painter, produced wonderful cartons of tapestry.
