Francesco Bacchiacca (1494-1557)

Francesco Bacchiacca was a Florentine painter of the Late Renaissance, whose works were commissioned by wealthy families of Florence like Benintendi and Borgherini.

He was born in 1494 in Florence, and died there in 1557, at age 63. Bacchiacca is recognized as a talented colourist, and an innovator due to his mixing of modern adornments and clothing styles of the day with religious or ancient history themes.

Among his most renown works, "Scenes from the Story of Joseph" (Galeria Borghese, Rome), "The Deposition" (at Uffizi).
